Cannon's First Easter

Easter Sunday was a fantastic day! We started with Cannon's first trip to church. He sat in the pews with the family, laughed and talked during the hymns and slept through the sermon. During "welcome your neighbor" a little girl about 5 sitting in front of us welcomed Cannon with a kiss on his hand, it was so adorable!! Cannon was introduced to Bro. Roy for the first time, and by Cannon's size he thought he was 6 months old already. That should tell you how fast he is growing.

After church we went back to Craig's folks house and the boys posed for the three generation photo, what a handsome group of men!! After a terrific steak dinner the men all crashed out for naps. We had such a lovely day!

3 months old

I don't seem to be as efficient at my posts as I was in the beginning. I guess that is a sign of times to come. The good news is Cannon is doing fantastic, I can't believe he is 3 months old already. He is reaching and grabbing objects now, making the music play in his gym and shaking rattles on his own. He is holding is head up and trying hard to sit up. So far he has rolled over half-way, so I think all the way will be coming very soon. According to the bathroom scale we are weighing in at about 14 pounds. I believe it, because he is wearing 6 months clothes now.

The bad news is my boss dropped a bomb on me that he can no longer come to work with me. I learned this about 3 weeks ago. I have been scrambling for suitable child care ever since. We think we have it figured out, but it is definitely the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. I start back to work tomorrow with a lot prayers.

Two days a week he is going to attend Journey Community Church's Parent's Day Out program. A former student of Craig's is the director there and it is a wonderful place. So yes, it is Cannon's first day of school today, and I am sure mommy will shed a tear or two. All signs of how fast they grow up!!

2 months old

Cannon had his 2 month check-up this week and he his weighing at 12 pounds 8 ounces and 23 inches. Cannon also got his first round of shots, I think those 3 needles hurt Mom more then they did Cannon. He was a trooper and only cried for a minute, then was his normal smiley self. He handle them well with no adverse affects.

Another exciting update is that Cannon slept through the night for the first time last night! he went down at 9:30 and didn't wake up until 6:15 the next morning. I wish I could say the same. I still woke up for our normal 2:00 am feeding. I guess I need to get retrained now.

Today Cannon also took his first meal of formula. We are starting the weaning process and hopefully we will be down to nursing only in the evening and first thing in the morning by the time I go back to work, April 1st. I am very fortunate that Cannon is going to be able to go back to work with me through the summer.

Cannon playing with his Great Aunt Pat. This is the play session where he first laughed.

It has been a tremendous 10 days for Cannon, firsts happening all over the place. He grasped a rattle for the first time (the picture someday he will never forgive me for), he is now laughing, he can hold his hands, and he can recognize mommy and daddy by sight. People have been telling me that the firsts would start coming fast and furious, and they were right. Everyday is a new adventure!!

6 weeks old...growing fast

The days are just flying by, 6 weeks already. Cannon is getting more and more active. He is smiling and cooing at Mom every chance he gets, he is starting to grab and hold on to things. Cannon really enjoys time on his back where he can stretch and kick. He is responding to both mommy and daddy's voices and tracking things as they move. I know I sound like a broken record, but it is amazing to watch them grow and develop. He teaches me something new every week.

Cannon has also become a regular travel. He loves getting in his car seat and going out and about. He also loves being outside. Mommy takes him for walks every chance we get when the weather is good. This is a good thing because we all know he will be raised in a barn!

Cannon was introduced to his first bottle this week, courtesy of Daddy, and seemed to take it fine. This is the first step in weaning Mommy from feeding times. I think it is going to be harder to wean mommy then baby!

Happy 1 Month Birthday Cannon!!

**UPDATE, I REPLACED VIDEO WITH A PICTURE**This is my first video attempt, I hope everyone can view it OK. Cannon is one month old today, I can't believe it. I seem to be saying that a lot lately. He is growing fast and becoming more and more alert and active. We are now battling the classic baby stuff of baby acne and cradle cap. He has also started to lose his hair, so soon we will see what his permanent hair color will be.

Being a mom gets more and more incredible everyday. We have been truely blessed with a wonderful child!!

By the way, Maultsby Club Lambs won the county show this year for the first time. 2009 is off to a great start!!

3 weeks old, we can't believe it. Time has never flown by so fast. Cannon is such an enjoyable baby, rarely fussing. We have truly been blessed in that regard. He is sleeping about 4 hour stretches at night now and 3 hour stretches during day.

We went on our first store outing this week, to of course the feed store, and our second store outing to Home Depot. Dad says we are starting him out right, lol.

This week is the McLennan County Livestock Show so Craig will be busy with the sheep all week. Good luck to cousin's Casey and Dawson as they show their lambs.

2 weeks old today

We can't believe Cannon is 2 weeks old today. Time really does fly by. We had our 2 week check up today and the doctor says he is thriving!! We are up to 9 pounds 2 ounces and 21 3/4 inches long. Cannon continues to become more and more alert every day. He is very content no matter where he is, although we think his favorite seat in the house is his little lamb swing.
Craig went back to work this week armed with a fistfull of pictures for the proud new daddy to show off. Steph's mom goes back to Arizona tomorrow so Steph will start to fly solo. Cannon is such a good baby that we are not worried. Plus we are so fortunate to be surrounded with Craig's family and good friends to help if we need. Everyday is a blessing!!
